The Indiana National Guard Judge`s Office of Staff Judge Advocate (OSJA) serves as legal advisor to the command, advising on various matters. OSJA also provides litigation defense and free legal assistance to Indiana Guards. The OSJA is also commonly referred to as JAG (Judge Advocate General). Officers serving in the JAG Corps are often referred to as JAGs. The Indiana OSJA offices are located at Stout Field headquarters in Indianapolis. Legal counsel consists of reviewing documents provided by a client, conducting research based on laws and regulations, and providing the client with legal advice or advice. If you are looking for an exciting opportunity to serve and have an associate`s degree in paralegal studies or a bachelor`s degree in another field and a certificate in paralegal studies, this field might be right for you. Paralegals assist the legal team with research; preparation of correspondence, reports and legal documents; submission of documents to the court; Maintenance of filing systems and management of the telephone recording process.

The JBSA law firm is closed every AETC day and holiday. The law firm may be closed on other days for training or special events. The Fort Eustis Legal Aid Division provides legal assistance in personal civil cases to support and maintain command effectiveness and readiness in accordance with Air Force Instructions 51-504 and 10 U.S.C. § 1044. Pursuant to 10 U.S.C. §1044, the ability to provide legal advice and services to eligible categories of personnel depends on the availability of resources and expertise of the legal staff. Although legal aid is not funded separately, it has been provided to members of the armed forces since 1943 and is now seen as one of the benefits of military service. JAG Corps The Indiana National Guard Office of the Staff Judge Advocate actively recruits members of the military to join the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps. The JAG Corps offers young lawyers an excellent opportunity to learn about different areas of law and get involved in a wide range of cases. Judge advocates may act as prosecutors in criminal cases (courts martial) or as legal counsel to provide advice and guidance to soldiers, retirees and their families.
