The Monash Medical course has been developed in close consultation with physicians, healthcare professionals, and health and research executives to provide the scientific context and clinical expertise needed to ensure Monash Medical graduates are prepared for their future as competent physicians. IB requirements are at least a 5 in Standard English or a 4 in Higher Level English or 6 in Standard English B (ESL) or 5 in Upper English B (ESL) and a 5 in Standard Chemistry or a 4 in Chemistry at a higher level. The Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (MD) course is a five-year program of study with direct entry from high school. Selection for an interview (MMI) in December 2022 is open to rural and Victorian students and is based solely on the UCAT score. This is to ensure that the selection process is completed within a tight deadline. ATAR (or equivalent) results for these candidates are recorded in accordance with the MMI. The UCAT threshold score for a previous year is indicative only and changes with each admission, depending on the distribution of scores and the number of applicants who apply to Monash each year. Therefore, the cut-off value may change for each cohort. For entry 2023, the UCAT indicative value is 2900*, which must be taken into account for maintenance. Selection is based on strict criteria, which include performance in an undergraduate and/or pre-university program, an aptitude test (GAMSAT/MCAT), English and interviews. ISAT results are included in the overall ranking for entry into the course. All applicants must have studied biology, chemistry and a third subject, which may be physics or mathematics at the pre-university level and must have met the minimum requirements of the MMC. For students applying with an enrollment, undergraduate or pre-medical program, the MMC has indicated that applicants must have achieved at least B at the school exit level (SPM or O level) in the following subjects: biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics or additional mathematics and another subject.
