Marla has served on numerous boards throughout her career. She currently chairs the Nominating and Governance Committee of the Board of Directors of the clinical stage pharmaceutical company Panavance Therapeutics Inc. in the Audit and Strategic Planning Committees of the Board of Directors of the medical technology company YGEIA; as a member of the Audit Committee and Chair of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee of Xeris Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; and as a member of the Board of Directors of REVOLO Biotherapeutics. She is a Fiduciary, Chair of the Investment Committee and a member of the Audit Committee of World Neighbors; Director and Chair of the Board of Directors for primary stages; and Director, Chair of the Review Committee and member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society`s Governance and Patient Access Committees. Marla has also served on the boards of Watermark Publishing, Inc., Cytyc Corporation and Boehringer Ingelheim Corporation. Marla speaks frequently about leadership principles, mentorship, diversity, crisis management and negotiation skills, and is also CEO and President of WOMN LLC, an organization dedicated to increasing diversity in the legal profession and helping minority lawyers succeed in legal affairs. Marla Persky was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Boehringer Ingelheim USA, where she led a department of 70 people. She was also a member of Boehringer`s Board of Directors and a director of the company and several of its subsidiaries. Prior to joining Boehringer Ingelheim, Marla spent 19 years at Baxter International Inc., where she held numerous commercial and legal positions, most recently as Global General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. During her tenure, Marla led global legal services, led international crisis management teams, acquired and integrated international corporations, and designed and implemented legal strategies to combat global mass crime. Prior to Baxter, Marla practiced law with the Chicago law firm of Lurie, Sklar & Simon.
Prior to practicing law, she worked in sales and marketing for The Colgate-Palmolive Company. Marla Persky is a Senior Advisor at BarkerGilmore with over 20 years of experience leading global pharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostic, biologic, over-the-counter and legal companies. His areas of expertise include strategic planning and execution, organizational design, maximizing return on investment, crisis and risk management, and governance in highly regulated industries. She is an experienced communicator, leader and consensus builder who listens carefully and creates a common understanding to foster better decision-making and implementation. Marla is also an invaluable consultant in leadership, organizational management, talent management, board management and succession planning. The HCC-OG team currently consists of 14 people, including four lawyers and nine consultants. There is a very open, friendly and authentic atmosphere in our team. Team spirit is very strong and very important for us. Business partners include Marketing & Sales and CHC Market Access. We advise you on all legal matters relating to compliance in the healthcare sector. In the afternoons, I continue to deal with day-to-day business and legal investigations. This is also often the time when I coordinate new projects with business partners, etc. Marla holds a Bachelor of Science in Speech Studies from Northwestern University and a Juris Doctor from Washington University School of Law at St. Louis University. We also have regular team meetings in the morning. I first studied pharmacy, then law, accompanied by a course in pharmaceutical law. It was clear that my career path would lead me to a pharmaceutical company.
