In June 2021, two journalists and an Azerbaijani government official died in a mine explosion in the Kalbajar district. Some media reported that the mines were laid on a highway in the district by Armenian saboteurs who illegally crossed Azerbaijani borders after the war. About one weapon comes for every three people in the country and is mainly used for hunting and competitive shooting. [300] From January to July 2019, 394 shotguns, 785 rifles, and 208 handguns were registered in Iceland. In total, the police count for weapons in Iceland includes about 40,000 shotguns, 25,000 rifles and 3,600 handguns in July this year. [301] In the Lebanese Republic, possession of firearms other than small arms, hunting weapons, or antiques is illegal, and only the latter two are allowed to leave the owner`s home. Contempt for this law is widespread. Lebanon does not officially grant the right to bear arms, but it is a deeply rooted cultural belief in the country. Firearms licences are issued to certain individuals, but the test is not open to the public and requires proof of special need.
[258] In 2010, there were 129,000 registered firearms owners (1.3% of the population) in Hungary with 235,000 firearms. Most of them were shotguns. Gun violence is very rare in Hungary due to the close surveillance and control of gun ownership. Crimes involving firearms are very rare and this statistic generally includes crimes committed with non-lethal weapons « pepper spray ». Police use lethal force less than 10 times a year on average. [346] Fully automatic or selective firearms are only permitted with institutional and training licences. Since 2020, police can issue permits for firearms with silencers for hunting licenses, but only for sanitary shooting, see the main article for more details. Armour-piercing, incendiary, tracer and other special ammunition are prohibited. Only holders of a valid license are allowed to purchase or possess live ammunition, and only types that exactly match the weapons they legally possess.
There is no limit to the amount of appropriate ammunition in possession. Hunters, collectors and sport shooters can produce ammunition (reloading), but only for their own use. Depending on the type of registration, there are other limits for the types and sizes allowed – see main article for details. There is no limit to the capacity of the magazine, except for hunting. Meanwhile, criminal misconduct trials in Armenia are underway as part of negotiations between Baku and Yerevan to sign a peace agreement. [201] A licence may be issued to persons employed by private security companies and some weapons are reserved exclusively for the armed forces. [202] Licences must be renewed every two years. [203] Under the 2010 Arms Control Act, Somaliland residents are allowed to possess firearms for the purpose of defending their lives and property. The law establishes that AK pistols and automatic rifles are allowed, and also mentions that others may be allowed. Only one weapon of each type may be registered. Possession of more than one weapon of each type must be justified and is granted only to legal persons. Persons over the age of 18 with no criminal history are allowed to register a weapon. The licence must be renewed annually. Citizens and residents can and can register firearms.
The sale of firearms is restricted to state dealers and licensed dealers. Weapons of war such as mortars, bombs, chemical weapons and oppressors are prohibited. The current law allows civilians to own 3 rifles and 5 shotguns, but these limits are changed to 10 unspecified units, meaning the buyer can own a total of 10 firearms of their choice. Firearms in Argentina have been restricted and regulated by the ANMaC (Agencia Nacional de Materiales Controlados) since October 2015.
This agency replaced RENAR (Registro Nacional de Armas de la Republica Argentina), two departments of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. To own a firearm in Argentina, you must be a legitimate user. Applicants must: be 21 years of age or older, provide a medical certificate attesting to their physical and mental fitness, complete a security course, provide legitimate income, and undergo and pass a background check. A successful candidate will receive fingerprints and a licence, which must be renewed every five years. You cannot legally discharge a firearm in Argentina if it is not a legitimate user, even if that gun belongs to someone else. Once a legitimate user wants to purchase a firearm, they must provide a safe place to store the firearm and provide an acceptable reason for wanting a firearm – e.g. Collecting, targeting, hunting, business or self-defense in the house. [165] A separate licence is required for each firearm, calibre conversion kit or silencer.
