The opposite situation occurs when you are simply forced to change circumstances and are told that your services are no longer needed or that the conditions and percentage of fees (or salary) you receive are changed. The Member Protection and Assistance Department is at the forefront of protecting the careers, reputation and financial risks of our members worldwide. The purpose of this role is to provide our members with trustworthy and valuable forensic services. A qualification in health law and/or experience in a forensic environment would be advantageous, but not mandatory. As dental-legal advisors, we are happy to advise and support our members in this important aspect of their personal learning and can help them plan targeted corrective actions with our in-house team of experienced dentists. I always advise our members to call our counseling center to discuss something they care about. It can be reassuring to talk to someone who understands the challenges you face, and letting them bounce off a dento rights advisor can help someone clarify the issue. The added benefit is also that we may be able to help prevent the problem from getting worse. I enjoy this aspect of the day because it often comes with a difficult question, and I can talk to other dentists or other members of the expanded dental team and help reduce the pressure of daily clinical practice for them. Often, the request can be resolved immediately, but occasionally I had to consult with another colleague from another department or do some further research and invite the member to wait for a more formal and written response.
